The growing of cannabis is a frequent cause of hidden defects

Houses are not designed to handle the high humidity generated by growing marijuana. Sometimes the seller has changed the gypsum and the floor, but without drying and properly cleaning the frame, mold can be present as well as other damages. Typically the growers of marijuana prefer to be tenants, in bungalows with an attached garage and an unfinished basement. At the time of resale, the growers are, in general, nowhere to be found ... or bankrupt.

Steps to follow in the event of a hidden defect in a building

In the case where you have discovered a serious hidden defect in your building that was not possible to detect at the time of purchase or during the inspection, the seller is the principle person responsible for hidden defects discovered in the building, even if he/she was not aware of any at the time of sale,therefore you can ask him/her to correct any hidden defect or ask for equivalent compensation.

Beware! If your Purchase Agreement indicates that you purchased the building without any guarantee against hidden defects or at your risk and peril, you may not be able to go back to the seller.
